The Story Behind BAD

BAD single cover art by OMYGOTTI

Every record has a story. This is the one behind my latest hip hop single.

Some songs you write. This one I lived first.

BAD is about a woman. A woman I liked, who liked me back, clearly. And when I met her, she was tied to someone else. But she liked me, I liked her, and we both knew it even though it was never said out loud. This song is for her.

The beat came from GreenOcean Beats. He's my producer from Germany, been producing for me for many years. He's my brother. He sent me this one a while ago and I just knew it needed something special. I wrote the hook long ago, had the idea sitting there, and then one day it all just came through. I was in my studio, my home studio, and I put in that work. Recorded it and it came out amazing.

From the day I recorded the hook, I knew it was the one. I knew this was a nice one. But after I got it out of my mind and into the hook and I actually heard it back, I was like, yo, this is infectious. You know that feeling when you hear something and your head just starts moving before you even decide? That was it.

"Everybody has that moment. That person you connect with but can't have. This song is for all of them."

What I want people to feel when they hear this is the connection. I want them to feel what I felt. Because everybody knows this moment. Maybe it's someone you work with, someone at the coffee shop, the gym, the club. It could be anywhere. But you feel that connection, you know she wants to connect with you, but there's a blocker. She got a boyfriend. She married. You got a girlfriend. You married. She's in a messed up relationship. Whatever it is, that wall is there, but the feeling doesn't care about walls.

That's what BAD is. It's that tension. It's knowing and not saying. It's the look across the room that says everything.

And for me as an artist, the making of this song is about simplicity. Showing what I can do. I've been dabbling, the lyricist thing, the mainstream sound, the dance vibes. This is me showing people that OMYGOTTI is an artist. A legit entertainer.

A lot of people don't know I played guitar. Classically trained, 15, 16 years. That built me. That discipline, that ear, that's in everything I make, even when you can't hear a guitar anywhere in the track. It's in how I hear melody, how I build a hook. BAD sounds effortless because the work behind it wasn't.

So when you hear it, play it for that person. You know the one.
